The Dirty Dozen

The Environmental Working Group, a non-profit organization committed to protecting public health and the enivornment, recently released their "Shopper's Dirty Dozen Guide" to pesticidies in produce. What produce do they recommend you buy only organic? Celery, peaches, strawberries, apples and blueberries among others. Click here for the full list, as well as for their list of the "Clean Fifteen" - produce containing the least amount of residual pesticide. And as a sidenote, their website is full of helpful information on how to avoid chemicals in our environment, with information on sunscreens, perfumes and the like. Check it out.

The Bryn Mawr Farmers Market continues to offer a wide variety of the tastiest, locally-grown organic produce around! In addition, the market offers organic milk and dairy products, eggs, local honey, locally-made baked goods, humanely-raised and free-range meats, and a variety of delicious cheeses. And starting next week, June 12, we'll have tree fruits (think cherries!) from Frecon Farms.

Congratulations to our friends in Bala Cynwyd on the sucessful opening of the Bala Cynwyd Farmers Market! Their market is open each Thursday from 3-7 at the GSB parking lot, corner of St. Asaph's and Belmont Roads. Other fun happenings around town - Bryn Mawr Twilight Concerts continues this Saturday night, and the Clover Market in Ardmore will be open Sunday.

Have a great weekend and we hope to see you at the Bryn Mawr Farmers Market on Saturday!
