The Bryn Mawr Farmers Market will be open this Saturday from 10 am - 12 pm - come join us and celebrate this first week of spring! Participating farmers include Birchrun Hills Farm (cheese, pork and veal), Canter Hill Farm (eggs & poultry), Davidson Exotics (mushrooms), Philly Fair Trade Roasters (coffee beans), Two Gander Farm (early greens, potatoes, mushrooms, honey), Wild Flour bakery (European style baked goods), Amaranth Gluten-Free Bakery and John & Kira's Chocolates.
Also happening this week - a guided tasting of handmade local cheeses and old world wines, this Wednesday the 23rd at 7 pm at the Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College. Reservations are required, click here for event details.
And mark your calendars for the return of Ardmore's Clover Market ! Our own local vintage marketplace opens its spring season on Sunday, April 10th, from 10 am - 4 pm.
Eggs are of course one of the classic images of spring, and sadly suffered a bad rep for years. Nutritionists have now begun touting their healthful benefits, and several of our farmers offer wonderful, fresh, free-range eggs. Easy to prepare, low in calories, high in protein, a natural source of vitamin D, lutein (for your eyesight), and omega 3's, eggs can definitely be enjoyed. Martha Stewart presented the sweetest recipe last year - coddled eggs in a teacup. Your kids will love the presentation and you will too! Or try this leek, potato and parmesan frittata - delicious for brunch or pair with a salad for a simple vegetarian dinner.
Our planning for the regular weekly market season is underway - please let us know if you are involved with a Lower Merion non-profit organization that might like to be featured with a table at the market.
Hope to see you on Saturday!
