The Spring Season is On!

Thank you to all who supported the market last Saturday - it was a beautiful day to open our 3rd season. And thanks to our farmers and producers who helped us earn a spot on Philadelphia Magazine's "Our 15 Favorite Farmers Markets" list - what a great way to kick off the spring/summer season.

If you didn't make it last Saturday, here is my shopping list from last week to give you an idea of the offerings - goat cheese, honey, coffee, baguettes, apple/banana bread, cherry pie, spring lettuce, baby spinach, asparagus, rhubarb, chicken breasts, duck eggs, veal chops, pork ribs, and steaks! We've been eating well this week and had a great mother's day BBQ last Sunday. There is such a wide variety of fresh and locally-grown food available at the market - come see for yourself!

Wimer's Organics provided us with their list for this Saturday - Wimer's will be offering foot long beans, bunched beets, baby boc choi, chard, cilantro, collards, cucumbers, kale, lettuces, baby spinach, baby arugula, spring onions, radishes, cherry tomatoes, baby sweet potatoes and a variety of fresh herbs. Yum. And your favorites from Canter Hill Farm, Birchrun Hills, Livengood's, Davidson's Mushrooms, Two Gander Farm, Shellbark Hollow, and more will all be on hand as usual.

A few spring recipes to get you cooking:

Birchrun Hills pork tenderloin or pork chops with rhubarb chutney

Swiss chard and salami frittata

Hope we'll see you on Saturday - the market will be open 9am - 1 pm!
