Last Two Weeks!

Yep thats right - only two more Saturdays two enjoy the fresh offerings at the Bryn Mawr Farmers Market, and then we shut down for the winter. Even with the cooler temperatures there is still plenty of delicious local food available. And, our farmers and producers have just what you need for the perfect Thanksgiving meal: potatoes, sweet potatoes, brussel sprouts, greens, butternut squash, cauliflower and more. Livengood's and Canter Hill Farms have been taking orders for fresh turkeys. The pie selection from AndyB and Wild Flour Bakery is absolutely mouthwatering! AndyB will be baking traditional classics such as pumpkin, apple, and pecan (and offering a few twists as well), while Wild Flour Bakery is whipping up a sweet potato applesauce pie, an apple pie with brandy, a bourbon pecan pie, and a few cheesecakes too.

Our cheeses make perfect appetizers - we especially like the new chevre with cranberries and walnuts from Shellbark Hollow. Throw some Birchrun Hills sausages on the grill and pair with fresh eggs for the perfect holiday weekend breakfast. And perhaps you'd like to pick up some hostess gifts from John & Kira's Chocolates?

Lastly, consider trying Farm to City's Winter Harvest program to support local farmers and enjoy local food throughout the winter. There will be a pick-up site at the Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr (thank you Baldwin!). Canter Hill Farms will have their own winter CSA program featuring their poultry and eggs, as well as a program featuring raw milk and other dairy products from their cow, Oreo. Its got to be good to know the name of the cow your milk comes from, yes?

See you on Saturday!
