As news comes about an expansion of the egg recall (including an investigation of eggs sold in Pennsylvania), we are especially pleased to have several farmers at the Bryn Mawr Farmers Market who offer their fresh, local eggs. If you haven't tried them yet, this is the time. Canter Hill Farm, Two Gander Farm and Wimers Organics all have pastured eggs available that will surely be the best you've ever tasted, and you can ask the farmers any questions you may have about their eggs (can't do that at the grocery store). Buy a dozen and whip up a healthy scramble for your Sunday breakfast.
And speaking of health, the New York Times ran a piece a few weeks back detailing a "prescription produce" effort underway in Massachussets. Three health centers there have begun distributing coupons for the purchase of farmers' market produce to encourage a healthier diet. We love it! Check it out here.
Hope to see you at the market on Saturday for some healthy eating!
