New Fall Hours! 9:00 am - 1:00 pm!

You asked for it - you got it! The Bryn Mawr Farmers Market will now be open from 9 am - 1 pm, each Saturday until Thanksgiving. There are so many good things to enjoy at the market during the fall season - we hope the new hours give you a little more time to squeeze in a visit to the market each weekend.

And we are welcoming a new farmer to the market - Davidson Exotic Mushrooms! With a farm located in Kennett Square, John Davidson has been growing mushrooms for over 20 years. He specializes in Portabello, Crimini, Shiitake and Oyster mushrooms. We're sure they will add hearty flavor to your fall salads, roasts and the like. Or how about a Portobello Mushroom Lasagna or Cream of Wild Mushroom Soup - either would be perfect comfort food for a chilly evening.

With the on-set of cooler temperatures John & Kira's Chocolates has returned to the market with their delicious and beautiful chocolate boxes. And while our dessert baker AndyB has been away tending to personal matters, he'll be back on September 18th with all kinds of baked goodies celebrating the flavors of fall.

Lastly, we prepared mashed butternut squash this week that was simple and delicious - if you have not prepared butternut squash before it is so easy! Peel with your vegetable peeler, remove the seeds and cut into cubes. For mashing, toss with some melted butter, brown sugar, salt and pepper, and roast for about 40 minutes until soft, then mash. Or combine the cubed squash with potatoes and onions and roast as a simple hearty side dish. Just about all of our produce farmers will be offering butternut squash tomorrow and in the weeks to come, it is loaded with vitamin A and also a good source of vitamins C and E.

And (really lastly), Ardmore's Clover Market will kick off its fall season this Sunday from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm. Check out their vintage goods and have fun!

We'll see you on Saturday!
